Curtain - Privacy Policy

Overview

Curtain is a Chrome extension that helps users temporarily hide and restore sensitive browsing history and bookmarks. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Data Collection

Curtain does NOT collect, transmit, or share any user data.

All data processing happens entirely on your local device. No data is ever sent to any external server, third party, or analytics service.

Data Storage

When you activate Curtain, matching browsing history and bookmarks are temporarily stored in Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device. This backup data is used solely to restore your history and bookmarks when you deactivate Curtain. The backup is never transmitted outside of your browser.

Permissions Used

• bookmarks — To read, remove, and restore bookmarks that match your configured sites and keywords.
• history — To read, remove, and restore browsing history entries that match your configured sites and keywords.
• storage — To save your configuration (site list, keyword list) and backup data locally on your device.
• privacy — To temporarily disable Chrome's search suggestions while Curtain is active, preventing sensitive autocomplete entries from appearing in the address bar.

Third-Party Services

Curtain does not use any third-party services, analytics, tracking, or advertising.

Data Deletion

You can remove all data stored by Curtain at any time by:

• Deactivating Curtain (which restores your data and clears the backup), or
• Uninstalling the extension (which removes all locally stored data).

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
